Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Wine Mind (the "Service") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible.
1. Information we collect
Without an account. Your learning progress, quiz results, preferences and tasting journal are stored locally in your browser (local storage). This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.
With Google sign-in (optional). When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, name, email address and profile picture through Firebase Authentication. We store your learning progress and tasting journal in Google Cloud Firestore, linked to your account identifier, so they can sync across your devices.
With email sign-in (optional). You can also sign in by receiving a one-time sign-in link by email, without a password. We then receive your email address and an account identifier through Firebase Authentication, and store your progress and tasting journal as described above. Your email address is used only to sign you in; it is not used for newsletters unless you opt in separately.
Newsletter (optional, opt-in). If you tick the separate, unticked-by-default box "Je veux recevoir les nouveaux cours de Wine Mind par email", we store your email address, the date of your consent and the exact text you agreed to, in order to email you new lessons. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in each email or by contacting us; we then stop sending emails and delete this consent record.
TikTok (optional). If you authorize Wine Mind through TikTok, we receive only the information covered by the permissions you approve (for example, your basic profile information such as display name, avatar and an open ID). We use it solely to provide the requested feature, and we do not sell it or use it for advertising.
Technical data. Our hosting provider (Heroku) may record standard server logs such as IP address, browser type and request time, for security and operational purposes.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service and sync your progress and journal across devices;
- To send you sign-in links you request, and, only if you opted in, emails about new lessons (legal basis: your consent);
- To provide features you have explicitly enabled through connected accounts such as TikTok;
- To maintain the security and reliability of the Service.
We do not sell your personal data, we do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers listed below.
3. Service providers
- Google Firebase (authentication, sign-in emails and database) — privacy information
- Heroku / Salesforce (hosting) — privacy information
- TikTok, only if you connect your TikTok account — privacy information
These providers may process data outside the European Union, including in the United States, under the safeguards provided by the GDPR (EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses).
4. Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage and a service worker to save your progress and let the app work offline. Firebase may use storage needed to keep you signed in.
5. Data retention and deletion
Synced data is kept for as long as your account is in use. Newsletter consent is kept until you unsubscribe. You can clear local data at any time by clearing your browser's site data. You can ask us to delete your synced data and account at any time using the contact details below, and you can revoke Wine Mind's access from your Google or TikTok account settings.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
7. Children
The Service is about wine and is not intended for anyone under the legal drinking age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and synced data is protected by Firebase security rules so that each user can only access their own data.
9. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
